Union Viet

Union Viet is a Vietnamese restaurant/cafe that’s a stone’s throw away from Southwark and London Bridge tube stations. It’s a lovely family-run place that takes its food seriously, with a no-frills approach to dining. It looks small at first but they have more tables upstairs so you should be able to get a seat even at peak times.

BINGSOO

Bingsoo (or bingsu, depending on how it is transliterated), is a Korean shaved ice dessert with sweet toppings. The standard version is topped with red beans (called “pat” in Korean) and this is known as patbingsoo.

This lovely little Vietnamese place in Peckham is a wonderful reprieve from all the fried chicken joints. It’s a 5-10 minute walk from Peckham Rye station, which makes it easy to get to if you’re taking the Overground.
